This article applies to the Computer Account Login for Court Employees.  Computer accounts are also used to access VPN and Office 365 / Outlook.

Treat your password with the same care as you would your ATM pin number.
Do not use the same USERID+PASSWORD combination for non-court applications or websites such as GMAIL, FACEBOOK, SKYPE, your online banking, etc.
Do not write your password down. Do not paste it to your monitor and/or place it in your unlocked desk drawer.
Do not share your password with a co-worker. If you think someone knows your password, change it ASAP.

How to Create a "Good" Password

  1. Know the

Passwords are CASE SENSITIVE and you CAN NOT RE-USE a passwords you previously set for this account.


1. Password Complexity

Minimum 10 characters


Include a combination of at least 3:
  • Upper case letters
A - Z
  • Lower case letters
a - z
  • Numbers
0 - 9
  • Special characters
~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * _ - + = � | \ ( ) { } [ ] : ; " ' < > , . ? /
Is not your name or username
Is not a commonly "hacked" password
for example "Passw0rd" or "abc123"


2. Make it Easy for YOU to Remember

  1. Think of a phrase, quote, or song verse.
  2. Replace vowels with numbers or special characters.
  3. Use spaces and add punctuation.

Examples:
I_Love_CarsI love cars.I LOVE cars!

How to Choose a "Good" Password:

1. Know What You Can NOT Do

  • You can not re use the same password.
  • You can not include your name or username in your password.
  • You can not use "commonly" hacked passwords (such as "abc123", etc).

2. Use Complexity

a - z
  • Numbers
0 - 9
  • Special characters

How to Change Your Password:

If you are in the office:

If you are working remotely from a court-issued computer:

IF you are using your court issued laptop to SSLVPN or "Remote Into" your Office PC – PLEASE CALL the IT Service Desk.

If you are working remotely from a personal computer:

Note

In this scenario you are using your personal computer to SSLVPN or "Remote Into" your Office PC.  If you have the opportunity to wait until you are in the office to set a new password – the procedure is much more simplified.  If you password is about to expire and needs to be reset sooner, follow the procedure below.
